Well wishes do come true.  Harry has agreed to come to NE Texas for a clinic.  However there is just one caveat, he wants to come this October.  This is VERY short notice and will be difficult to pull off but I am willing to do the work if I know that enough of you guys that have attended the last two Dr. Deb clinics here in Texas or anyone else would be willing to attend.  So please let me hear back from you ASAP if you would like to attend this clinic with Harry.  Thanks Cheryl

All of your responses are a good sign that we just might have enough attendees to pull this off.  I will be talking to Harry in the next day or two; or whenever he gets back into cell phone range and will get the particulars squared away and let you know asap.  Cheryl

Folks, let me tell you-all again what I tell all my students everywhere: if you have only enough money in this tight economy to be able to afford to go to just one horse clinic this year, then you be sure to make it either Buck's or Harry's. -- Dr. Deb

I would add to that last comment...Dr Deb's 5 day Equine anatomy dissection clinic in Bend, Oregon October 22-26 is also a MUST GO

aBlackhorse, I am located in Bigelow, Arkansas about 40 miles from little Rock.

The clinic is a go.  There are still rider slots available and of course auditor slots.  So if you are within driving distance please come join us.   Cheryl

I don’t have a computer at home so have to do my computer work on break here at the office and have been so busy, I hardly find time to read, much less post.

I heartly recommend Harry’s clinics.    I had a great time, learned a lot and can’t wait to have time to apply it to my own horses.   I wasn’t able to take my horse, so only audited, but the horses that were at the clinic were varied and all were fun to watch.     We had a Morgan, Andalusian, Paint, and QH--     Pleasure horses, a barrel horse, trail horse and dressage.   A couple of drop-ins on Saturday with problems that were identified.      So much information packed into 4 days!   It was great to meet up again with wonderful folk I had met at Dr Deb’s clinic last spring.

Since I didn’t take a horse, I’ll leave the individual riders to post as to their own horses.   But I have to comment on lighthorse’s horse learning the Spanish Walk.    She had been working him with treats and to quote her,” the horse did more of a Mexican Stomp than a Spanish Walk” and by golly he expected treats--- no treat, the harder the next stomp.  We were all in stitches from laughing at him.       In just a few minutes Harry had the horse lifting one leg on a tickly cue.   Not as an amusing movement for sure, but wonderful to see the change.

Go see Harry whenever or however you can.     Your horse will thank you!

I certainly had a great time at Harry Whitney's clinic.  Latigo mentioned about my horse learning the Spanish Walk...ah, the little things do make a difference!

It is hard to explain all that I took away from the clinic....but, the focusing, staying with a horse until he softens.  ( My horse would sort of give to the bit, or flex...but, not really soften into it.)  Harry said the horse should find comfort in the reins.  Practical things with more "intent".  See, I told y'all it was hard to explain!

Horses think where they are looking...turning the horse, change his thought...and then the horse turns easily.  Amazing in it's simplicity.
