Into the book now and it seems like my answer(s) may be coming to light already.
(this is a partial quote):
New dimension of consciousness...have the thought (my worry?) lose the power over you and it will quickly subside because you are no longer energizing the mind through identification with it...which will be the begining of the end of involuntary and compulsary thinking.
K, I will sneak off and not write back for some time (unless Im asked to)and read and contemplate.
Thank you!Last edited on Fri Dec 23rd, 2011 12:12 am by kcooper

Hi Kim,
Enjoy your reading. The Power of Now is also available on Audio CD which is great, as you can take it in the car with you or anywhere else. There are some wonderful threads here at the moment, giving me lots to think about. Thanks to all who are posting.
'Our elderly teacher used to tell students like you, quite solemnly, that they had done nothing wrong and could do nothing wrong -- and he would repeat that many times to them, for they needed to hear it many times due to their continual internal shouting that made them nearly deaf. Do you understand what Tom meant by saying they COULD NOT DO anything wrong? What he meant was -- the truth is, you don't have the power. -- Dr. Deb'
This bit gave me many a point to ponder...I remember you saying this to me, when I rode at a clinic a few years ago now, Dr Deb. I was deaf and didn't hear the meaning, I think the mind is quiet enough now to hear but I can't help wondering if the sound is still a bit muffled. To me Tom is saying, we could not do anything wrong because there are NO wrong decisions, every single one we make is the 'right' one. We do not have the power because every thing unfolds as it 'should'....the right action will be there when we need it not before. If this really is the meaning/wisdom behind the words, how liberating.
Is this also the same for the horse? He can also do nothing wrong, as he/she doesn't have the power either?
Kind Regards Judy

I am contemplating every sentence that Tolle writes in this book. (With a dictionary by my side incase)
I am having a hell of a time, not so much understanding what he is saying but believing..... are you suggesting that we take everything he says as the literal truth? (I am doubting that but I wanted to ask).
I just have this feeling that he has done his research (both inward and outward) from the standpoint of a person who has suffered from depression and/or as a person who was born with or raised to have an overall negative outlook on life. I have a hard time relating with him.
WHERE is it best to put you head so that a person can get from this book what you think we need to hear/understand/utilize?
I can VERY much see the importance of a paragraph like this (and there are many):
"The mind is a superb instrument if used rightly. Used wrongly, however, it becomes destructive. It is not so much that you use your mind wrongly - you usually don't use it at all. It uses you. This is the disease. You believe that you are your mind. This is a delusion. The instrument has taken you over."
But if I were reading this book just for myself and it wasn't suggested as material for our journey with our horses I would take from this book only what I thought I needed to apply to myself. However, I am trying to 'start at the beginning .... as a beginner... as student'. In grade school I never thought to question the text books but as an adult I have learned that it is neccessary do be discerning. How should I change/adjust my attitude about this?
Thank you and I wish the best in 2012 to everyone here!
And PS regarding the sad eyes and hanging head I mentioned: My vet examined my horse and said that the likelyhood of him having ulcers was very high and they may not have healed on their own from his life/diet at the race track even though we have him on a proper diet now. She prescribed omeprazol for a month. Last edited on Sun Jan 1st, 2012 04:21 pm by kcooper
