Dear People: This is to let you know a few days ahead of time that we may have to be off-line in the week following the 4th of July weekend. This may mean for a day, for part of a day, or for part of several days -- depending on how smoothly the transfer goes.
The GREAT news is, we have a brand-new website and at long last, we are going to publish it. A whole new look! So gaze your last upon our old Home Page at http://www.equinestudies.org, for it will soon be retired.
The CONTENT of the new site is the same as the old one PLUS a bunch of new articles and features, as well as an updated look. The FORUM will continue to be exactly the same as it has always been; you do not need to do anything to change passwords or anything else.
We will soon have other exciting announcements, of which you, our loyal Forum readers and participants, will be the first to benefit. Stay tuned please.
Hope everybody had a peaceful & enjoyable Fourth. Cheers -- Dr. Deb

Just an update: Migration is complicated and there are lots of steps that have to be completed in the right order.
Long and short is, we didn't get all of it done last week so will continue this week (beginning Monday, July 11)....as I said before, this should not affect the Forum at all.
I'll post an announcement again as soon as the process is completed. We can't wait to show you our new website !!! -- Dr. Deb

Hello Dr. Deb and congratulations on your (almost) new site!
As I recall from my tech days, if it's not one thing it's three. More than likely, once your site is completely updated, I won't be able to access it from my old decrepit home computer. But I trek to the library now and then and will be able to access it there. Very glad to hear the forum is not changing, as it is one of the few sites that still opens for me! And it is an important one!
I finally let my Equus subscription expire. It was a difficult decision as I've been a subscriber since the very first issue. I used to read it cover to cover the day it arrived. However, I took out a subscription to Eclectic Horseman after my last Buck clinic and I now read that cover to cover within days after arrival. AND, I am thrilled to see your wonderful articles there! Makes giving up Equus a little bit less painful.
Dr. John has now retired. He sends his greetings and best wishes. He also suggested I check with you (he took classes from you way back when in Idaho) regarding a new equine dental practitioner, in case you would happen to know of anyone in my neck of the woods. I did try out a new vet and I think it might work out, but not sure yet about teeth. No hurry on any reply here as I'm sure you are plenty busy with the site move.
All the best,
Monica

Aloha, your old decrepit computer (and its old decrepit browser) will probably be able to read the new site just fine. I myself am still using Windows XP and the new site was created to be compatible with that. If anybody does have a problem once the new site is up, please do let us know.
Should happen either later today or tomorrow. -- Dr. Deb

Congratulations on a successful migration, Dr Deb.
I have had a speedy look and this requires a cuppa and the laptop rather than the phone.
A huge Thank you for all your work. So lovely to see photos of you and Oliver.
Kind Regards Judy

Hi to all -- YES!!!!! The new website is up and I'd love to hear feedback from all and sundry. And IF you should have any problems or find a button that doesn't work or doesn't take you where it's supposed to, or anything else of that nature.
And Aloha -- I wasn't entirely accurate yesterday. Yes it does not matter if you're running an older DOS such as Windows XP but yes it DOES matter if your browser is too far out of date. The only browser I know of that still supports Windows XP is Opera, which is a free download if you don't have it on.
THERE WILL BE MORE NEWS SOON....you will find certain sections of the new website are not complete, such as the Anatomy Dissection page, so we continue to work on those. However it is now much easier for us to make changes to the website from my office, and that was a major reason for the switch. Whenever we make changes, the site will be off-line for an hour or two, and I'll try to be good about warning y'all whenever we schedule that to happen.
Meanwhile, Judy is right -- the new website is bigger than the old one, has many more free downloadable articles and more information pages, so take your time with a "cuppa" and enjoy. Cheers -- Dr. Deb
