I just picked up a strange vintage saddle from a yard sale. I've never seen one like it before and it has no markings or stamps of any kind on it. I was hoping someone might have some idea what kind of saddle it is or where I might be able to find more information on it.
It has a wide, very round seat, extended bars, and canvas panels. The saddle tree points are exposed, and the underside and panels seem to be a completely separate piece that was attached at top.
I've attached a picture of it and a link to more pictures(I didn't want to take up space here on the forum).

The person selling it didn't know anything about it except that it was owned and used by a woman when she "was young" who is now in her 70's.

Any ideas or help is greatly appreciated!
Thank you, Adrienne

Looks like a Phillips, made for military and/or police use. Dave, what do you think? -- Dr. Deb

Thank you very much for the info Dr Deb! I think you are right. I did a google search for Phillips military saddle and found one that looks to be just like it. Very interesting!

Thanks again, Adrienne
