Hi all, have a new horse he is just lovely anyway one of my herd of three is particularly aggressive with new horses on his territory. Past experience has taught me to take my other 2 away from him out of ear shot then introduce the new one next to him behind a fence with outrigger and eventually put them toghether. Today was the 4th day and I put all 4 together I think with success. they seem to be getting along really well but when they have their hay (spread out 4 yards mtrs apart the gelding who seems to be the boss will not let him eat. I put the new ones hay a further 6 metres away and that was fine. I should mention there are about 40 acres they have access to. I assume in time they will accept him as their own and all will be well. Does anyone have any other ideas on introducing a new one with safety.
Isn't the weather awful!! We know how bossy, boss gelding is and I think you are doing pretty fab to have the four together after only four days!!! This sounds like a great opportunity for me to send 'Sam I ain't' up to further his studies....the trouble is I will have to extricate him from his shed first, he doesn't 'do' rain!!! I don't really have any other suggestions other than what you are already doing. They have plenty of room to sort themselves out. Stay dry, can't wait to meet new horse!
