Hi Dr Deb,
I hope its ok to post this link to a video on an approach to the design and fitting of western saddles on gaited horses.

I would be very interested in yours and David Genadek's thoughts on what is presented in the video.

Thank you

Dorothy

Dorothy, before I even go look at the video, I'm going to tell you -- there is zero difference in fitting a saddle to a gaited horse vs. fitting one to a non-gaited horse. What one must attempt to do in fitting a saddle is match the shape of the underside of the saddle, plus some room for "wiggle", to the shape of the horse's back. That's the whole thing in a nutshell.

Now, having heard that, you can decide whether you still think it's worthwhile for anyone to see the given video. If not, write me back and I'll save everybody the time and trouble by simply taking the link down. Cheers -- Dr. Deb

Thank you Dr Deb,
My immediate thoughts were 'why would gaited horses need any different approach to any other horses?' and nothing in this video has convinced me otherwise.
However, they are presenting some different ideas to saddle construction that I would be interested in your thoughts about.
Thank you, Dorothy

And what would those ideas be, please? I don't have audio on my computer so I can't hear what they're saying. -- Dr. Deb
