I have a 9yr old gelding that was diagnosed with crooked spine up by his withers, any exercises that I can do with him. I breakaway rope on him and trying anything I can do to see if I can maintain him to still be able to rope on him, or if it would be better to just sell him as a trail horse? Thank you, Sherry

Sherry -- I need a little bit more information before I can really help you. Please reply by answering the following:

(1) How old are you?

(2) How old is the horse?

(3) What breed is the horse?

(4) Who gave you the diagnosis -- was it a licensed veterinarian, a licensed veterinary-chiropractor, or somebody else?

(5) It would also be helpful if you would post photos of the horse; one standard conformation shot, taken from the side in the usual manner, plus a photo taken by you standing in the bed of a pickup truck looking down on the horse's back, while somebody else stands him up for you in the halter.

Thanks, I have to have this information or else it's too much guesswork and assumptions. -- Dr. Deb

Good morning Dr Deb,
Earl is a 9yr old quarter horse gelding. He was diagnosed by a licensed chiropractor. I am 47yrs old. I will get you some pictures this weekend. Thank you so much for your response. Sherry

Great, Sherry. I asked for your age because sometimes we get the panicked teenager who may have sort of mis-heard or over-interpreted an evaluation. Looking forward to seeing the pictures. -- Dr. Deb
